what is Garlic?



garlic is originally from central Asia but now it has been grown throuhgt the world.it can grow 2 feet hig or more.garlic have bulb that consist of 4-20 cloves and each clove weight about 1 gram.the part of garlic that has been used for medicinal purpose is the bulb. you can found garlic supplement either made from fresh dried,aged or garlic oil and each may have different effect on the body.

many researcher agreed that allicin that can be foound in the garlic was respomsible for its beneofts.however there are othe chemical in the garlic which is sulfir-containing compaund thay may help fight heart disease and prevent some cancer.

  • garlic may strengthen our immune system so it can fight cancer.
  • one study suggest that people who eat garlic raw or cook are less likely to get colon,esophagus and stomach cancer.
  • reseacher also review 7 study and found that 30% reduction in risk oc colecrectal cancer among people who eat garlic raw or cooked,however garlic supplement do noe give the same effect
  •  iowa Women's Health Study have conduct large-scale study to looked at how much garlic,fruits and vegetable were in diet of 41,000 middle-aged women.the result shown that women who regularly eat garlic,fruits and vegetable had 35% lower riskof developing colon cancer.
2)Common Cold
  • research has been done on people who took either garlic or placebo for 12 weeks between november and february,which is during cold season.it has been found that people who took garlic had fewer colds compared to those who take placebo.eventhough they did get cold,people who take garlic saw their symtomps gone faster.
3)Heart disease
  • we always heard that garlic is a herbs for heart disease and atherosclerosis.but the evidence is mixed.
  • garlic also seems to act as blood thinner which may help prevent heart attacks and stokes
  • earliaer study found that garlic lowered high cholestrol,however all the recent study  have found that garlic didn't lower cholestrol

side efffect from taking garlic are:

  • bad breath & body odour
  • stinging sensation on the skin

garlic is acts like a blood thinner, so too much garlic can increase your risk for bleeding during surgery and it also can interact with blood thinning medication.
